Alhaji Bello Maitama Yusuf
Renowned Islamic scholar, former senator, and minister, Alhaji Bello Maitama Yusuf, has passed away at 76.
Serving as the Minister of Interior (1980-1982) and Minister of Commerce (1982-1983), he later represented Jigawa South-West in the National Assembly (1999-2007).
Yusuf, also a traditional title holder, held significant roles, including chairing Jigawa State Delegates to the National Constitutional Delegates Conference.
His burial is scheduled after Juma’at prayers in Kano this Friday, as confirmed by a family friend, Alhaji Hussaini Dalhatu.
The Jigawa State government, through the Chief Press Secretary, Mallam Hamisu Muhammad Gumel, expressed deep sorrow, describing Yusuf's demise as a monumental loss to the nation.
