In the Ekae village, new Etete axis, GRA, Benin City, Edo State, a man named Okhiria was detained by the police after shooting his wife with a gun following a heated argument.
After an alleged disagreement with his wife, the suspect is reported to have taken up his revolver, fired at her, striking her in the left hand. Following the occurrence, the sufferer had to have his or her hand removed.
Chidi Nwabuzor, a representative of the state command, told reporters that the incident was reported in the New Etete Division on June 3.
"On June 3, the police received a complaint from some elders of the Ekae community with Joanki Okhiria, age nine, that on the same date, Joanki Okhiria's father had a disagreement with his wife, Tina Okhiria," he stated.Okhiria then shot Tina on the left hand with his double-barreled weapon, and the victim was rushed to the hospital for treatment. The afflicted hand was amputated.
Nwabuzor reported that following an inquiry, the police have detained the suspect and would present him in court shortly.
