In commemoration of this year's Eid-el-Kabir celebration, the Federal Government has declared Wednesday, June 28, and Thursday, June 29, 2023, as public holidays.
The announcement was made by Oluwatoyin Akinlade, a Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Interior, in a statement issued on Monday. Akinlade extended warm felicitations to the Muslim Ummah, both at home and abroad, on behalf of the government.
Calling for unity and progress, Akinlade urged Muslims and all Nigerians to contribute to the growth and development of their communities and the nation as a whole.
The permanent secretary expressed hope that the prayers and sacrifices made during this season would bring about peace and prosperity in Nigeria.
On Wednesday, Muslims worldwide will join their counterparts in celebrating Eid-el-Kabir, following the day when Muslim pilgrims in Saudi Arabia ascend Mount Arafat.
