The Ghanaian authorities expelled sixteen young Nigerians for committing cybercrime.
It was discovered that the 16 young men were taken into custody in Ghana after agents with the Ghana Economic and Financial Crime department raided their homes.
The immigration officers who received them under the command of the Comptroller, Seme Boarder Command, Chukwuemeka Dika said; the returnees were detained by Ghanaian immigration agents who invaded their home and deported to the country.
One of the deported individuals, a 19-year-old guy from Anambra state who claimed that his parents are late, stated, "It was my friend who connected me to another of his friend that took me to Ghana.
He promised to assist me in finding work as a mechanic, and when I have enough money, I'll return to my native country.
The 16 deportees who were harvested and brought back to Nigeria from Ghana have been accused of by the Ghana Economic And Financial Crime for engaging in cybercrime, according to Comptroller, Seme Boarder Command Dr. Chukwuemeka Dike, who was speaking about the unfortunate situation.
According to a preliminary inquiry, Dike stated, "we have found that some of them were enticed into such criminal acts, but others went with the attitude of "get rich quick" mentality that the youths are today acquiring. Some of them are victims because they were tricked along the way. They don't get the real deal they were promised when they left the country, but instead are exposed to something different when they arrive the country.
Investigation also showed that they entered certain west African countries before entering into ghana illegally, they left the country via the sea, and the majority of them travelled there without valid travel permits, which made it simple for Ghanaian officials to deport them.
He said, "The deportees were handed over to the Nigerian Immigration Service based on the agency relationship and synergy with other embassies and high commissions around the West African community."
He nevertheless urged Nigerians who were leaving the nation to obtain valid travel permits and to have reliable sources of income.
