ASUU calls of strike set date for resumption

ASUU calls off strike, announce resumption date.

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has conditionally call off its eight-month strike.

A meeting of the union's leadership that began on Thursday evening and went through the night into the early hours of Friday morning resulted in the decision to call off the strike.

The union convened the conference to decide its course of action after its state branches discussed the Court of Appeal ruling last week.

Remember, ASUU in order to force the federal government to address their outstanding demands, the union had gone on a total and comprehensive strike on February 14, 2022.

Some of the demands made by the lecturers are ;

  • The payment of earned academic allowances, 
  • Adoption of the University Transparency Accountability Solution (UTAS) as the preferred payment option rather than the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS),
  • Payment of promotion arrears, and 
  • Renegotiation of the 2009 ASUU-FGN Agreement.
