A woman, 36, and her 14-year-old daughter resided in the Mahevaganj neighbourhood of Lakhimpur Kheri, 100 miles east of New Delhi. They shared a residence with the mother's boyfriend, 32, in what appeared to be a healthy setting. They cohabited for two years. Their source of income came from the mother's work on a nearby farm.
