| Drug kingpins arrested with Cocaine |
A large warehouse in a private estate in the Ikorodu neighbourhood of Lagos was busted by NDLEA agents, who discovered 1.8 tonnes (1,855 kilogrammes) of cocaine inside.
More than Two Hundred and Seventy-Eight Million Two Hundred and Fifty Thousand Dollars ($278, 250,000) or roughly One Hundred and Ninety Four Billion, Seven Hundred and Seventy-Five Million (N194, 775,000,000) Naira, is the estimated street value of the cocaine that was seized from the warehouse.
The kingpins of the cocaine cartel who have been apprehended are Messrs. Soji Jibril, 69, from Ibadan, Oyo state; Emmanuel Chukwu, 65, from Ekwulobia, Anambra state; Wasiu Akinade, 53, from Ibadan, Oyo state; Sunday Oguntelure, 53, from Okitipupa, Ondo state; and Kelvin Smith, 42, from Kingston, Jamaica.
They are all participants in a global narcotics cartel that the NDLEA has been pursuing since 2018.

The warehouse is located at 6 Olukuola Crescent, Solebo Estate, Ikorodu, according to Femi Babafemi, Director of Media for NDLEA, who provided PM News with additional information about the incident.
Babafemi revealed that the warehouse was searched on September 18, 2022, while the barons were apprehended between Sunday night and September 19, 2022, in hotels and other hiding places throughout Lagos.
His statement further reads;
“Preliminary investigation reveals that class A drugs were warehoused in the residential estate from where the cartel was trying to sell them to buyers in Europe, Asia, and other parts of the world.
“They were stored in 10 travel bags and 13 drums.”
