The University of Lagos branch of the Joint Action Committee of Non-Academic Staff Union and Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Universities is now protesting the abrupt suspension of its strike by its leadership.

Before the strike was put on hold last Saturday, the disgruntled members said their leaders had not properly carried them along.

The JAC of SSANU/NASU leadership encouraged all of its members nationwide to resume in a statement on Saturday, but the UNILAG branch members protests against the suspension of the strike.

Members of SSANU/NASU UNILAG carried numerous signs on Wednesday and as of the time of publication that said, "We are tired of General Secretary Adeyemi Peters and Mohammed Ibrahim of SSANU, they must go!" and "We are not civil servants."

On March 27, 2022, the JAC of NASU and SSANU began a National Industrial Action that was called of on August 20, 2022.

Additionally, it requested that its members return to work on Wednesday, August 24, 2022. However, the members told our correspondent that they felt belittled and that they had not been properly informed.

All of the JAC of SSANU and NASU members who spoke with our correspondent claimed they were not informed, adding that a congress was meant to take place prior to the strike's suspension.

Oriwaye Adefolalu, a former chairman of SSNAU and UNILAG, claimed that JAC of SSANU and NASU erred by ending the strike they initiated to pressure the federal government to carry out its constitutional obligations without bringing along its members at their respective branches.

He said;

"Records are there, and the current SSANU leadership is not telling the truth. I am not the kind of guy who can mislead you. I initially believed they lacked knowledge, but they actually know what they are doing.

"Their only concern is making money for themselves. Every minute sees a worsening of the situation. I am positive that Adamu Adamu, the minister of education, stage-managed the strike's suspension in order to retain his position. Adamu merely washed their minds and greased their hands.
