For this week's Sunday Lunch, Robert Fripp of King Crimson and his wife Toyah Wilcox have released a cover of Ozzy Osbourne's Crazy Train.
Toyah's outfit for this episode features a sheer black top, a big cross necklace, and fringe sleeves as the couple chooses to honour the Prince of Darkness. Despite Fripp's best efforts to keep the raiment out of his face, at one point Toyah imitates Osbourne's iconic haircut by giving him a fringe, unintentionally bringing Fripp into the tribute.
As is customary, the message on the couple's cabinet has been changed to read simply, "We Love Ozzy!"
It's not the first time Fripp and Toyah have honoured Osbourne; in June of last year, they performed a cover of Paranoid. Fripp and Toyah have performed several rock classics as part of their Sunday Lunch series, starting in 2020 during the height of the pandemic lockdowns. These songs include All My Life by the Foo Fighters, Rockin' in the Free World by Neil Young, Bullet with Butterfly Wings by the Smashing Pumpkins, and White Wedding by Billy Idol.
On August 1, Toyah also released a new song, a version of the Grace Jones classic Slave To The Rhythm. The writer, who originally sang on the demo that Frankie Goes To Hollywood rejected before it was picked up by Jones, has a close relationship to the Darlow, Trevor Horn, Bruce Woolley, and Stephen Lipson-penned song.
Toyah Said;
“It sounds amazing, totally different to Grace Jones’ iconic and perfect original,”
“My version will surprise all, it has a connection to the words that suddenly revealed itself as soon as I put the main vocal down and Fripp played. The three of us really are a great musical team, we are very excited.”
The jovial couple has recently performed covers of "Back in Black" by AC/DC, "Psychosocial" by Slipknot, "Kein Lust" by Rammstein, and "All My Life" by the Foo Fighters.
Robert and Toyah recently revealed that they would be starting a "Sunday Lunch" tour in 2023, though no specific dates have been made public yet.
