NDLEA agents detained Pastor Anietie Okon Effiong, a transnational drug dealer, along with three drums of crystal methamphetamine, locally known as Mkpuru Mmiri and thought to have been imported from India.

The consignment, which weighed 90 kilogrammes and was loaded into a commercial bus with the licence plate RSH 691XC at Ojuelegba in Lagos, was discovered during a stop and search operation along the Umuahia-Ikot Ekpene highway on Saturday, August 6, 2022, according to a statement from Femi Babafemi, director of media and advocacy.

Pastor Anietie Okon Effiong was intended to receive the lethal substance, which was packaged 30kg per drum, but he was captured during a follow-up operation at Oron Beach in Oron.

This comes after certain courier businesses in Lagos seized four packages of the same illegal material, weighing 4.074kg, bound for Australia, Indonesia, and the Philippines, together with 3kg of cannabis sativa bound for Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The packages contained body cream, hot burner iron, and beads to disguise them.
