Enoch Sule, a self-described prophet, has been ordered to be remanded in custody by a Chief Magistrates' Court in Kafanchan, Kaduna State, for allegedly raping and impregnating two sisters.
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has accused Sule of rape. Sule is the general overseer of Kamurum Bajju's Prayer Tabernacle Ministry.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the crime violates section 258 of the Kaduna State Penal Code Law.
However, due to a lack of authority to hear the case, the sitting judge, Samson Kwasu, rejected the accused's plea.
Kwasu gave the prosecutor the go-ahead to submit the case files for review by the State Director of Public Prosecution.
He adjourned both cases back to September 8 for more discussion.
Earlier, Mr. Marcus Audu, the NSCDC prosecutor, informed the court that the Salama Sexual Assault Referral Center in Kafanchan had notified the corps of the incident on August 8.
According to Audu, Sule tricked the older sister, 19, into going to the mountain with them for prayer and fasting.
He claimed that while on the mountain, the defendant told the young woman to take off her clothes and pray while unclothed at the prompting of the Holy Spirit.
He claimed that Sule had an unwanted pregnancy as a result of his coerced sexual activity with the girl.
He said, "A month later, in April, Sule performed the trick on the girl's younger sister, who was 17 years old, and likewise got her pregnant."
The two sisters' lawsuits against the prophet were submitted and read aloud separately, according to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
