WAFCON 2022: South Africa Beat Morocco To Win First Women Africa Cup Of Nations Title

South Africa wins the 2022 Women Africa Cup of Nations for the first time ever in the history of the nation. South Africa defeated Morocco in the championship game on Saturday, winning 2-1 after the two teams went on a heavily contested match for 90 minutes.

The hosts Morocco played very well to reach the final and to claim second place.

After defeating Morocco in the final WAFCON championship match on Saturday, 23-7-2022. at Prince Moulay Abdallah Stadium, Banyana Banyana successfully won their first Women's Africa Cup of Nations title.


South Africa Banyana finally succeeds this time after failing to get past the final on six prior occasions.

Morocco team has never advanced this far in the competition.

Morocco Lionesses, having competed in the 2000 and 2008 tournaments, this is only their third Wafcon appearance overall. They reached the championship game in this competition after a 22-year hiatus, but South Africa prevented them from being crowned the winners.


The opposition South Africa has participated in every Wafcon competition.
