The Association of Nigeria Aviation Professionals (ANAP) (ASUU), threatening to close the airports in support of the Academic Staff Union of Universities strike.
The news comes as the National Labor Congress (NLC) ordered its members to protest nationwide in support of the ASUU's strike on July 26 and 27.
In a statement released on Monday by Abdulrasaq Saidu, the general secretary of ANAP, the organization urged Buhari to call an immediate stop to the strike.
According to ANAP, the prolonged strike has increased social vices in the nation since students are now participating in detestable acts that could ruin their futures.
It said that Nigeria's educational system had become a laughing stock as a result of the more than four-month strike.
ASUU, NASU, SAUTHRIAI, and NAAT have been on strike for more than four months, according to the union, because the government "apparently failed to sign the re-negotiated 2009 Agreement with ASUU, failed to honor the terms reached at the May 2022 MoU signed with ASUU, and routinely failed to respect Collective Bargaining Agreements willingly signed with labor Unions."
Parents and society were also reported to be suffering, in addition to students, and it was added that every home in the nation had been impacted by the weak economy.
The group emphasized that education remained the cornerstone of every nation seeking greatness and warned that, if the ASUU strike is not properly managed, it will eventually result in terrible circumstances.
"Our pupils waste resources by taking eight years to complete four-year reading courses. This is not how we can go on," the statement reads.
The union declared that its members would join the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in denouncing the deplorable circumstances in the tertiary education industry.
In a similar event, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) said that it would join the National Union of Banks, Insurance, and Financial Institutions Employees (NUBIFIE) in its strike in support of the ongoing ASUU strike.
NAN claims that Anthony Abakpa, the organization's national president, and Mohammed Sheikh, its general secretary, made this declaration on Sunday.
However, it continued, "the union will have no choice but to call out all our members in banks, insurance, and other financial institutions in solidarity with ASUU if after the one-day protest by NLC on this issue if nothing is done."
