BREAKING: US President Joe Biden tests positive for COVID-19

Joe Biden tested positive for Covid 19, the administration of President Joe Biden announced on Thursday that the 79-year-old had tested positive for Covid-19. They added that he was experiencing "mild symptoms" but would continue to perform his full duties while staying in isolation at the White House.
Biden has started using Pfizer's anti-Covid medication Paxlovid, the White House stated in a statement, adding that he has been completely immunized, twice boosted, and is only showing very minor symptoms.

He will isolate in the White House in accordance with CDC recommendations, and he will continue to properly perform all of his duties during that time.

Jean-Pierre said in the statement.

“He has been in contact with members of the White House staff by phone this morning, and will participate in his planned meetings at the White House this morning via phone and Zoom from the residence,” 

This may have result from his recent contact with people from his travels.

The president visited Massachusetts on Wednesday to highlight executive actions he was taking to combat climate change after returning this week from trips to Saudi Arabia and Israel.

He was scheduled to travel to Pennsylvania on Thursday for a speech on gun control and crime as well as a fundraiser for the Democratic National Committee.
