BREAKING: Unknown gunmen allegedly gunned down a policeman in Nsukka at Umeano Junction along Ibagwa road.
Report has it that unknown gunmen stormed Umeano Junction, along Ibagwa Road Nsukka and gunned down a policeman who was among those that had mounted checkpoint today being Nkwo Market.
Recall that today being Nkwo Market day that the road is usually busy with commercial motorcyclists and tricyclists plying the route transporting traders and buyers along the route. The police usually mount check points along the route for on Nkwo Market days for "security" reasons.
The news flying round today is that a group of unknown gunmen invaded the police at the checkpoint at Umeano Junction and opened fire at them.
While the others were able to escape, one police man was said to have gunned down while another was whisked away into their vehicle.
According to the informant, the assailants took the fallen police gun.
According to the source, the unknown gun men in an SUV killed a police officer at a roadblock in Umeano before heading to Ibeagwa Ani all at Nsukka Local Government Area to fire a patrol van.
The officers at Ibeagwa Ani withdrew when they could no longer fight the gunmen' firepower.
Another report has it that police van was set ablaze at Ibagwa-Ani same today. Ibagwa-Ani and Umeano Junction are all in Nsukka Local Government.
