Suspected gunmen set ablaze court and Local Government Secretariat in Anambra State
The Idemili North Local Government Secretariat in Ogidi, as well as a Magistrates' court, have been set on fire by suspected gunmen.
According to sources, the arsonists set fire to the building on Sunday night.
They allegedly set fire to all files and property in the secretariat, including the building itself.
The entire buildings were reduced to rubble in videos and photographs of the incident that circulated online.
Inside the local government secretariat, vehicles were also burned to ashes.
The state police command's spokesman, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the event and blamed it on unidentified arsonists.
"Yes, the incidence was confirmed," Ikenga added, "and our soldiers were there to restore normalcy."
The fire has been extinguished, and the region has returned to normal."
