Ugochi Nworie, a girl in her twenties, was murdered in a popular hotel (names omitted) along the Enugu-Abakaliki expressway on Saturday night.
While one source said that the woman was gang-raped, another claimed that the crime was a case of Ebonyi ritual killing.
After a late-night party, the victim, who is from Ebonyi State's Ikwo Local Government Area, was alleged to have encountered some "weird" individuals at the hotel.
The males, who arrived at the hotel in a saloon car written "Colonel," reportedly agreed to provide the victim N50,000 in exchange for one of them spending the night with her, which she eventually agreed to.
The victim's lifeless body was later discovered in the hotel, according to reports. Her female companions had submitted a missing person case to the police on Sunday afternoon.
When late Ugochi's body was delivered at a mortuary in Abakaliki, sources close to the victim claimed that her essential organs, including her eyes and breasts, were gone.
According to another source, the girl was discovered dead on Monday, May 2, 2022, a day after she arrived with three males at the G-Hostel Junction hotel in Abakaliki, the state capital.
Her wrists and legs were tied, she was blindfolded, and her private portion was supposedly hacked off, according to the source.
According to those familiar with the incident, the lady was found dead in her hotel room after the door was forced open during the day and her legs, hands, and mouth were tied up.
Meanwhile, the scene yielded used condoms that suggested gang rape.

"After we partied in the hotel with Ugochi, we decided to go home," one of Ugochi's female friends, who requested anonymity, said. "But Ugochi decided to stay back because some men promised her N50,000 to spend the night with her."
"They offered me N100,000, but I declined since I didn't know who they were." I told them my boyfriend was in town and that I wouldn't be able to spend the night away from home because of it.
"We told Ugochi not to follow them, but she refused due to the financial incentive." As a result, we left her behind and returned home. We went to the police and reported the situation when we didn't see her the next day.
"We overheard the males claiming to be from Ghana. We have no way of knowing whether or not that is true. Where plate numbers should have been, 'Colonel' was written on one of the vehicles they brought to the hotel.

Police are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death.
Loveth Odah, the state's Police Public Relations Officer, told a press conference in Abakaliki on Wednesday that investigations are on to determine what caused the young lady's tragic death.
She informed the public that the command will conduct a comprehensive investigation to determine the cause of the incident, apprehend the perpetrators, and prosecute them.
