2023: PDP Adjusts Election Timetable and Shift Primaries




Prior to the presidential primaries, the opposition Peoples Democratic Party has made some significant changes to its election timelines. Debo Ologunagba, the party's national publicity secretary, made the announcement in a statement signed and uploaded on Twitter. The dates for the party's local government congresses, governorship primaries, and other activities were shifted as a result of this move.


The main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDPNational )'s Working Committee (NWC) has delayed its primary elections. The PDP adopted an amendment to the party's program and activity schedule for the general elections in 2023.

The governorship primaries will now take place on Monday, May 23, 2022, while the Senatorial District Primaries will take place on Saturday, May 21, 2022, according to Ologunagba.

The House of Representatives Primaries have been rescheduled for Friday, May 20, 2022, and the State House of Assembly (State Constituency Congress) has been rescheduled for Wednesday, May 18, 2022, according to another part of the statement. 

The Local Government Area (LGA) Congress, which will elect one national delegate per LGA and one person with a disability in each of the 774 LGAs, will be held on Tuesday, May 10, 2022, according to the party.

 "All applicants to various positions, essential stakeholders, members of our Party across the country, and relevant government agencies should please take note," the party stated.
