The Murtala Mohammed International Airport, MMIA, Lagos on Saturday got its first flight as international flights activities continued in the country after the suspension of all trips in March because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The first commercial scheduled flight Middle East Airline, MEA, landed at the air terminal at around 2.00 pm nearby time from Beirut and was formally welcomed with a water gun showing by the men of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, FAAN, Aerodrome and Rescue Fire Fighters.
The air terminal authorities, driven by the Nigerian Immigration Service, screened the arriving passengers. They handed over their records including their COVID-19 PCR test results for screening by the Port Health administrations authorities. While their travelling papers, international IDs and visas were taken care of by the Nigerian Immigration Service, NIS.
Usman, the Comptroller NIS,Said, " The screening has been going on easily up until now. No issues as travelers have been collaborating. The Immigration authorities are doing their standard checks and they are running their typical movements. We have not sent additional men,"
This is similarly as Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja will be opened on Monday, seventh September for international flights.
